The painting shows a woman standing in front of a window, the city lights reflecting behind her. There’s a sense of stillness and isolation, yet the vibrant hues of the city beyond hint at the energy just outside her reach. “City Lights” was inspired by the feeling of being alone in a big city, being surrounded by activity but still enclosed in a private space. I wanted to show that contrast by playing with light and color, using the window as a symbol of separation.
